A bit more for the curious…
Krista has always had an interest in helping others grow. She studied English, Psychology and Secondary Education at Michigan State University, and worked as a high school teacher for the first part of her career. She went on to pursue a Master’s in Social Work at Grand Valley State University in hopes that it would enhance her ability to support her students emotionally, as well as academically. But instead of returning to the classroom with her newfound skills, she decided to pivot and make social work her full-time job. Krista now owns her own private practice where she is passionate about empowering others to take the negative things in their lives and use them as catalysts for growth.
Krista draws from her own journey when working with her clients. She has experienced, lived, and pursued healing and freedom in her own life from a very challenging season. As a new mother, she wrestled with trying to juggle the competing responsibilities and demands of motherhood and her career, while experiencing significant postpartum anxiety. This combination had her on the fast track to burnout. While she is still pursuing even greater levels of freedom in her own journey, she has learned some valuable lessons and picked up some useful tools along the way and desires to empower and walk with others as they move through pain and into freedom in their own adversity and struggles.
Despite the harsh winters in Michigan, Krista has a deep love for all seasons. Whether it's skiing down a mountain or soaking in the sun at Lake Michigan, you are likely to find her outside. She is curious and adventurous and explores outlets for her creativity and passions in everyday encounters: from sidewalk chalking murals in the neighborhood with her daughter to tweaking her latest batch of sourdough. She loves good food and getting lost in a good story, and the two shared together with friends and family even more.
